About LoreVenice

Laure Jacquemin, Photographer in Venice

Belgian-born, Venice-based. For over 15 years, I have been documenting love, emotion, and life in one of the world’s most extraordinary cities.

My story

From Brussels to the lagoon

My name is Laure Jacquemin. I was born in Belgium and, from a very young age, I was naturally drawn to art. As a child, I imagined becoming a drawing artist. This early passion for visual expression led me to study Art History of Antiquity and Archaeology at the Université libre de Bruxelles.

“Venice is the most beautiful studio in the world — and I feel extraordinarily fortunate to work here every day.”

During my university years I met my Italian husband. Shortly after completing my studies I moved to Venice, a city that soon became both my home and my greatest source of artistic inspiration.

I first started a blog about life in Venice where I shared photographs I was taking around the city. What began as simple documentation gradually evolved into a professional activity when the first weddings I photographed immediately attracted attention and new requests followed.

Today photography is the way I continue to express the artistic sensitivity that originally led me to drawing and art history.

After more than 15 years living in Venice I know the city deeply: its light, its rhythms, its seasons and the precise moments when each location becomes truly extraordinary. This intimate knowledge allows me to guide couples to the right places at exactly the right time, so that their experience in Venice becomes both effortless and memorable.

My approach

Three pillars of my work

Photography, for me, is not about directing or staging moments but it is about observing, understanding, and guiding gently when needed.

01 |Art History & Visual Culture

My background in Art History fundamentally shapes how I compose images. I am attentive to lines, structure, framing, and the balance of light, elements studied through centuries of painting. Photography is, for me, another form of visual composition: instead of pencil or brush, I work with light and lens.

02 | Documentary & Experience-Driven

I work with a calm and unobtrusive presence, allowing moments to unfold naturally while remaining attentive to light, movement, and atmosphere. The result is imagery that feels honest, balanced, and timeless. Rooted in real emotion rather than constructed scenes.

03 | Intimacy & Connection

I believe a photography session should feel natural and fluid, without pressure or performance. My native French, fluent Italian and English allow me to communicate easily with couples worldwide. What I love most is learning each couple’s story, especially how they first met.

Venice as a living canvas

Venice is a city with its own rhythm, constraints, and quiet moments. Living here for over 15 years has given me an intimate, irreplaceable understanding of how it changes.

Light & Atmosphere

On certain mornings, when the lagoon fog covers the city, the light resembles a Turner painting: soft, luminous, and almost timeless. These fleeting moments are an endless source of photographic inspiration.

Local Knowledge

Knowing when the crowds thin, which bridges catch the last afternoon light, and which campi remain silent at dawn is local expertise that turns a simple photoshoot into a truly memorable experience.

Equipment & working method

Photography, for me, is closely connected to drawing and painting: another way of expressing visual composition, balance, and harmony. My tools are chosen to serve both intimacy and grandeur.
